OakParkApartments.com would like to welcome Zen Life and Meditation Center (ZLMC for short) as one of our newest commercial tenants.
Zen Life & Meditation Center of Chicago is a “step-by-step comprehensive curriculum the gives practical tools and guidance for living a transformed, Zen-inspired life.” This curriculum educates its participants on how to live a “life of openness, empathy and clarity.” ZLMC offerings also include retreats and meditation classes.
Roshi Robert Althouse, founder and owner of ZLMC, began studying, practicing and teaching the art of Zen back in the 1970’s. He began teaching in Hawaii and has over 17 years of experience. When he and his wife, June, moved to Oak Park in 2004 they continued this passion by establishing and co-founding the Zen Community of Oak Park in their home.
Althouses’ credentials are impressive. He is a “fully empowered Zen teacher in the White Plum lineage and a fully ordained Zen Buddhist Priest” as well as being the “Abbot of the Zen Center”, it’s primary teacher and meditation instructor.
Recently, realizing the need to expand, Zen Life and Meditation Center found a new home at 38 Lake Street (an OakParkApartments.com property). ZLMC moved in the beginning of October and have planned a grand re-opening for this Saturday, November 5th, 12 – 2pm. ZLMC invites all to come by and find out more about living a Zen-life.
