The Village of Oak Park has just been ranked in the top 10 as a community that has one of the “highest concentrations of people working in fields classified as “creative class,” according to census data.
“Creative class” is defined as people who work in science and technology, business and management, arts, culture, media and entertainment, law and healthcare fields.
Oak Park census data statistics rank Oak Park 4th, having 79.5% of its’ residents classified as “creative class.” Other “creative class” communities include Chicago neighborhoods; Hyde Park, Lakeview, Streeterville and Lincoln Park as well as the suburbs of Glencoe, Evanston and Burr Ridge.
Not only is Oak Park a creative minded place to call home, the residents of Oak Park have a higher median income, are more diverse and significantly more educated than other Illinois communities, according the 2011 American Community Survey results.
