Gymnastics Center Good for East Lake Street Business District

The Park District of Oak Park has purchased the old Aldi grocery store at 25 Lake Street. There is discussion about making the site the new gymnastics center or a maintenance and storage garage for the park district.

OakParkApartments.com supports the Oak Park Park District’s proposal to relocate the Gymnastics Center to the former Aldi store front and expand this wonderful, family oriented program.

The Gymnastics Center will strengthen this neighborhood gateway as well as being an eastward extension of two other park district facilities – Ridgeland Commons and the Stevenson Skate Park.

The Center’s financial report stated “220 children were on the gymnastics program waiting list in 2008, with 160 in 2009.” The added space at the Aldi site will allow for the expansion of a revenue generating program that is in high demand. Not only will the site allow for much needed program expansion but the the property also has more then enough parking for the Centers’ needs compared to the present sites “street only” parking.  Having the Gymnastics Center relocate to the former Aldi grocery store site will breath life into an Oak Park gateway business district.

Come on Oak Park Park District – see the long term vision and benefits of relocating the Gymnastics Center to 25 Lake Street!
