Oak Park is filled with artistic, creative people. Are you one of them?
If so, OakParkApartments.com wants you to know that the Village of Oak Park needs your help and is willing to pay you for your efforts!
The Village is seeking 15 artists to continue the marvelous transformation of the Green Line retaining walls into works of art.
This art project was initiated in 2010 and since has brightened the intersections of Oak Park Avenue and North & South Boulevards. This year the Village would like to continue to transform the “L” wall space so that, eventually, from Harlem to Austin can be an outdoor public art gallery.
Oak Park would like artists (and, o.k., not just those from Oak Park) to present their concepts to a panel of judges to the Village’s Public Arts Advisory Commission, Oak Park Area Arts Council and Oak Park’s local arts community for approval.
The concepts are judged on “artistic merit, appropriateness for a public way and originality.” Paint is the only acceptable medium. Artists must submit a rendering of their original vertical design in order to be considered.
All the 15 chosen artists will receive a total of a $1,000 dollar stipend to purchase supplies for this project. $500 of that stipend will be paid at the start of the project and the remaining $500 will be paid once the mural is completed.
